The 2021 Annual Shipwrights’ Lectures Wednesday 20 October at MAST Studios Southampton
After the enforced break in 2020 the Shipwrights’ Lectures Team are pleased to announce that this year’s Annual Shipwrights’ Lectures will be going ahead on Wednesday October 20th and at an exciting new venue – the MAST Studios in Southampton City Centre. https://www.mayflowerstudios.org.uk/
The general format will follow previous years and there is a full programme planned for the afternoon.
Most importantly, we are delighted that Pip Hare has agreed to be to be our 2021 keynote speaker.
Just a few months ago Pip successfully completed her first singlehanded round the world yacht race. Not only is the 3 months long Vendee Globe race both physically and mentally tough but Pip was regarded as the underdog with a 20 year old boat and having faced significant challenges in securing sufficient sponsorship and support simply to get her to the start line. As the race progressed several competitors had to drop out, but Pip went on not only to finish but won the admiration of her peers by pushing her boat Medallia to a performance that no one had thought possible.
As well as being a competitive sailor Pip is a journalist, author and compelling speaker. Without doubt she will have some insightful experiences to relate.
